Romero Races into Record Book….

August 9th, 2008

Andres Romero

Titleist Pro V1x player Andres Romero fired a course-record tying 5-under 65 on Saturday … and just before the skies opened up. Romero, who entered the day at 7-over, is currently in an 8th place tie at 2-over. He is just three shots behind leader and fellow Pro V1x player J.B. Holmes, who had yet to tee off before play was suspended at 2:16 p.m. Romero said “I played an almost perfect round,” when describing his seven birdie, two bogey performance as torrential rain pelted the Media Center and the cracks of thunder and gusting wind drowned out his responses. The 27-year old Argentinian, who won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in March for his first career PGA TOUR victory, has posted three top 10’s in his seven previous majors, including a memorable third place finish at the 2007 British Open. Today’s 65 tied his low round of the year which he posted in the third round en route to his win in New Orleans. Watch an interview after his round on Saturday.
