Parker McLachlin Makes it Two Weeks, Two Wins for 909

August 4th, 2008

Titleist ambassador Parker McLachlin claimed his first PGA Tour victory by seven strokes at the Legends Reno-Tahoe Open, finishing the tournament at 18-under 270. The 29-year old tied the course record with a 10-under 62 in the second round and set a 54-hole record at 20-under. He also earned an invitation to the PGA Championship with the win.

Parker had the following Titleist equipment in his bag at the Legends Reno-Tahoe Open:

  • Pro V1x golf balls
  • 909 driver (10.5°, 45″ Aldila VooDoo X-flex shaft, Lamkin Crossline grip)
  • 909 fairway (15.5°, 43″ Aldila VooDoo X-flex shaft, Lamkin Crossline grip)
  • 585.H utility (21°, 40″ UST iRod 90 X-flex shaft, Lamkin Crossline grip)
  • AP2 irons (4-P, Project X 6.5 shafts, Lamkin Crossline grips)
  • Vokey Design wedges (52°, 56°, TVD60, Dynamic Gold S-400 shafts, Lamkin Crossline grips)

Parker’s win marks the second in a row for the new Titleist 909 driver, following Chez Reavie’s trip to the Canadian Open winner’s circle last week. His is also the first professional win with a new 909 fairway. The Titleist 909 family of products will be available in select golf shops worldwide in October, with complete product information becoming available in September on Titleist.com.

For the week at the Legends Reno-Tahoe Open, Titleist was the most played golf ball with 79 players, more than all other golf balls combined. Titleist was also the top choice in the iron (33), wedge (118) and putter (48) categories. Titleist was second in drivers (30). Titleist equipment counts for PGA Tour and major PGA club professional and amateur events can be found at Golf Club Leaderboard on Titleist.com.

What version of the Voodoo does Parker play in his 909D2? The XVS or XDV?

Titleist Golf Clubs wrote on October 15, 2008 at 5:16 pm

Parker has the Voodoo VXS7 in his 909D2.

Is Adam Scott using the 909D2? If so, what shaft does he have and does he play any other drivers now?

Titleist Golf Clubs wrote on September 19, 2008 at 7:55 pm

Adam is using a 909D2 with a UST Proforce V2 shaft as his new gamer.

How can I get a 909 driver now? I will be playing the 2008 Golf Channel Tour Championship on Sept. 21 and I wish I had a 909 driver.

Titleist Golf Clubs wrote on September 19, 2008 at 7:57 pm

The new 909 drivers will be available in November. Best of luck in your tournament.

It is mentioned that stack and tilt golfers need different drivers because of steep angles of attack. Can somebody help me here? What should I look for if I’m a stack and tilt golfer and want a new driver? Thanks.

You should work with an Authorized Titleist FittingWorks Partner to help fit you into the proper Titleist driver for your swing and game.

When are these clubs coming to the UK. They look amazing! Isn’t Adam Scott now using the AP2 irons?

Adam has been using the AP2 irons since January of this year.

I can’t wait until those Pro V1 hats come out in the mesh. I am going to stock up on them. After I saw them on the players I wanted them so bad. I also am dying to see the new drivers, you can always trust Titleist to make the best available. Thanks Titleist! Do you know the date in October the mesh Pro V1 hats will be on the shelves so I can get there early and buy tons of them?

Sean Diller wrote on August 28, 2008 at 1:45 pm

Has there been a push back for the 909s? We were looking at September but it’s not looking like it now? Is there a new date? When Parker won with it the site was saying September and then October, so where are we now? Thanks so much. Can’t wait for my 909 with Voodoo shaft.

Titleist is hot right now with the release of the AP2 in Project X - the best irons ever! I saw the 909s and new Vokeys. Everything is looking really good. I love my 907D2, 906F2, and PT585.H, but I may have to change over to the 909 family.

Can anyone tell me how many rounds a new golf ball should last assuming no major scuff marks?

Titleist Golf Clubs wrote on September 9, 2008 at 1:02 pm

Titleist golf ball R&D tells us that you are likely to lose the ball before it becomes unplayable for reasons other than scuff marks to the cover.

When are we going to get more info on the 909 series of Drivers and Fairways? When can we buy our new Squareback Cameron Putter? Is the VooDoo going to be an option with the D2 and D3? Thanks a lot, can not wait.

chris glennie wrote on August 23, 2008 at 5:48 pm

I just saw the 909D3. It is, in my opinion, the nicest driver ever manufactured. I know a Nationwide Tour player who has it. The 909D3 along with the 909 fairway wood. I can’t wait until these clubs are available in golf shops.

Is it safe to say that the 909 has a hosel that is more traditional than the 905, therefore making it easier to replace a shaft? .335″ or .350″?

I have looked everywhere to find the hat the pros wear on tour that is the mesh fitted with FJ on one side and Pro V1 on the other. I have the exact hat but I can only find it with FJ on both sides. Can you please tell me where to find the white fitted mesh with Pro V1 and FJ on it, please?

Titleist Golf Clubs wrote on August 25, 2008 at 6:46 pm

The AF8-13 Flex Fit sports mesh cap with both FJ and Pro V1 logos will begin shipping to golf shops in October. The Tour Assortment and Contrast Stitch adjustable caps (styles TR8 and TCS8) with the same logo treatment began shipping earlier this year.

Titleist is head and shoulders above the competition right now. It’s amazing how the new 909 is already making an impact in the golf world. I love my Titleist set, except that my 804s are not bent upright. Keep it up Titleist!

When can we expect to learn more about the 909s?

Mark wrote on August 4, 2008 at 4:52 pm

Is Adam Scott currently carrying the Titleist 690.CH 2-iron or is he carrying the 585.H utility in a 19°? Also, I have seen mentioned that all his irons are 1° weak, but I have also seen that only his 3-5 irons are 1° weaker. Just curious to know which is correct and why they are 1° weaker?

Brett Lenertz wrote on August 5, 2008 at 10:28 am

In reference to Mark’s question re: Adam Scott. I believe it is correct that Adam’s 3,4,5 irons are 1° weak. I was fortunate to play with Adam some months ago and he admits he occasionally struggles to put enough spin and launch on his shots. This is the reason he has his 906F4 15.5° bent to 17° and is also the reason he switched from the Pro V1x to the Pro V1 about 18 months ago. The day I played with Adam he was carrying the 690 model 2-iron with lead tape in the cavity, which he hits unbelievably well.
