Titleist at the 2008 Open Championship

Titleist is represented at the 2008 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale by the following 17 full-line ambassadors from the worldwide professional tours. Click on each player’s photo below to see what Titleist equipment they’re carrying in their bags as they compete in the year’s third major.
Titleist equipment did very well in The Open Championship counts, according to information provided by the Darrell Survey. Out of the field of 156 contestants, 95 players are using Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf balls, and 30 Titleist drivers (including four from the new 909 family of drivers), 35 sets of Titleist irons, 130 Vokey Design wedges, and 49 Scotty Cameron putters are in play. Titleist is the leading equipment brand in the ball, irons, wedges, and putter categories, and finished second in drivers. I was interested in why the AP2 is not offered in a 2-iron? The long irons are incredibly easy to hit. Thanks and keep up the good work.
We created some prototype AP2 2-irons for Tour-testing, but there wasn’t much demand among our Tour players for this club. Most of our players on Tour are opting to play either higher-lofted fairways or hybrids in lieu of 2-irons and sometimes even 3-irons.
Regarding the inquiries about an AP2 two iron: if there is not much demand among the Tour players, then there must be a few collecting dust somewhere. I am more than willing as a loyal customer for many years to buy one. Here in Scotland, the higher-lofted fairways and the 585.H utility that I have hit the ball too high when playing in a strong wind, unlike a two iron which is easier to keep lower in the wind. I am currently using my DCI 990 two iron with my new set of AP2s and ask if you could please advise me if it is a tapered or unitized shaft that is in my two iron as l am thinking of changing to the same shaft that is in my AP2 irons. Seriously, I think Titleist should consider producing an AP2 two iron as I have noticed on the internet that there are many golfers like myself making inquiries for this item.
My AP2s have changed the game for me. Almost surgical in their precision in both dispersion and distance, they’ve taken 15 strokes off my game and given me a ton of confidence. My reason in writing is that I need a club that I can count on to be on the spot at 235 - 240 yards and the most appropriate choice would be an 18° AP2. How may one go about obtaining a prototype head (I don’t mind going through my PGA store and paying full retail plus) and match it with the same shaft I’m using in my other AP2s?

What size grips does Adam Scott use? Does he use a piece of grip tape on his clubs? Also, my girlfriend just got me a new S82 tour bag…just wondering what the guys store in them to fill the bag up? The tour blog is great.

Any word on the availability of the 909 drivers to the public?
Titleist 909 drivers will be available in select golf shops in October.
Perhaps it’s a little late, but I was just wondering about club changes that players made for the British Open. I would imagine taking bounce off of the wedges would be pretty common, but was there anything else drastic such as going to lower lofts with the driver? I would be interested to know. Thanks.
Most players were reluctant to make big changes heading into a major championship. A few players experimented with lower-lofted drivers to try to keep the ball flight down. Many of the players did work with Voke to make sure their wedges were all set. And a lot of lower-lofted hybrids and irons were built as an additional option on the tee to help keep shots low in the wind.
