Titleist Pro V1 player Camilo Villegas fired a second round five-under 65 at Royal Birkdale to get back to one-over for the championship and two strokes from the lead after 36 holes. Camilo’s round got off to a rough start with bogeys at the first two holes, but he made eight birdies over the final 16 holes, including the last five in a row. Titleist is represented at the 2008 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale by the following 17 full-line ambassadors from the worldwide professional tours. Click on each player’s photo below to see what Titleist equipment they’re carrying in their bags as they compete in the year’s third major.
Titleist equipment did very well in The Open Championship counts, according to information provided by the Darrell Survey. Out of the field of 156 contestants, 95 players are using Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf balls, and 30 Titleist drivers (including four from the new 909 family of drivers), 35 sets of Titleist irons, 130 Vokey Design wedges, and 49 Scotty Cameron putters are in play. Titleist is the leading equipment brand in the ball, irons, wedges, and putter categories, and finished second in drivers. The Euro van was on-site this week at Royal Birkdale to help all of the Titleist players prepare for The Open Championship.
