From the Buick Open
June 28th, 2008
We were on site earlier this week at Warwick Hills G&CC in Grand Blanc, Mich. as the players prepared for the Buick Open. We showed some photos a couple of weeks ago of players testing new prototype drivers out at Oceanside, and we were able to continue player testing this week at the Buick. In fact, twelve players decided to game one of the new drivers for the tournament this week (11 Titleist 909D2 prototype, 1 Titleist 909D3 prototype). Be sure to check out the photo gallery featuring some of the Titleist ambassadors and staff on hand during the practice days.

What shaft options will be available in the 909 drivers. I currently play a 905R with Graphite Design YS-6+ which I really like. I hit a 907D2 at a demo day with the Graphite Design YSQ and it felt great. Will both of these be options.
Specific product details have not been announced at this time. Per current Titleist practice, however, a wide variety of shafts will be available as custom options.
Do you sell 2008 Titleist Pro V1 hats like the one Adam Scott wears, or do you sell the Pro V1 contrast stitch hat?
We recommend contacting your preferred Authorized Titleist Golf Shop to determine the availability of the hats you wish to purchase.
I’ve heard many rumors as to the release date of the 909D2 and 909D3. I’ve heard everything from late July to early November. Is there any hint you can give us as to when they will be released? By the way, the new drivers look fantastic.
Be sure to check Titleist.com often as all new product release information gets posted there first.
Just wondering what exactly is the difference between the 909D2 and the 909D3? Any info on when they might be made available in golf shops? Thanks.
More information will follow soon.
The 909 drivers look nice, very “clean”. I understand that the drivers are still prototypes, but can you elaborate on the properties and the differences between the 909D2 and 909D3 club heads.
Thanks,
…Barry
The biggest difference is that the 909D2 is a 460cc driver and the 909D3 is a 440cc driver. This size difference gives the drivers different launch and ball flight characteristics. More information will follow soon.
I couldn’t tell for sure based on the pictures, but are the new 909s going to feature the same gloss black finish of the 907s? Also, any work in progress on new fairways to go with the 909 drivers? No rush, though - the current models are fantastic.
The drivers in the pictures are prototypes and thereby not necessarily an accurate reflection of what production models might look like. More information will follow soon.
Thanks for the great pics…keep them coming. On the 909 drivers, why do you think most players are gravitating towards the 909D2 as opposed to the 909D3? Is it the larger size of the 909D2?
The different driver models in the 909 family produce distinct launch and ball flight characteristics. Many of our players have preferred the ball flight they achieve with the 909D2.
Does anybody know where I can purchase a SH85 Titleist Hybrid golf bag? Please let me know. Thanks.
The SH85 bag is available for sale in Authorized Titleist Golf Shops now.
Great stuff guys. Are players keeping their favorite shaft in the new drivers or does the absence of the bore thru design change their launch conditions/feel preference?
Most players have been sticking with their favorite shafts, although we always have others on hand to try if the players want to do some comparisons.
Hey guys, quick question. I saw the 909D2 and 909D3 on the USGA site, but I couldn’t find specs. What are the differences between the two so far and what’s the word on Tour?
More information will be available on the new 909 family soon.
