We were on the ground during practice round days at THE PLAYERS Championship and there was already significant buzz about the new Vokey.com web site before it had even launched. Bob was on site at TPC Sawgrass and working the range making sure all his wedge players were set for the year’s “fifth major”, but he also found time to conduct interviews with Peter Kessler on XM Satellite Radio and PGATOUR.COM among others. Titleist is pleased to announce the launch of Vokey.com, a new website dedicated to the Vokey wedge enthusiast. This new site aims to provide wedge enthusiasts with a place to find information, updates and news on Bob Vokey, Vokey Design wedge products, wedge use by Titleist Tour players and wedge technology. Vokey.com will also feature two web stores: Vokey Store, featuring limited quantities of Vokey gear including headwear, clothing and accessories, and Wedge Works, offering small quantities of limited release wedges inspired by Bob’s work on the worldwide professional tours.

Caught up with Ben Crane who shared his unique ball marking with us. The three-time All-Pac-10 selection at the University of Oregon shows off his school colors by drawing the logo on his Pro V1x. First, Ben colors over the number with a yellow Sharpie and then outlines it in green, for the perfect “O” design. While Ben drew the artwork on a number 4 golf ball on Wednesday, he said he only uses number 4’s during practice rounds and saves the 1’s, 2’s and 3’s for competitive tournament play.
Interestingly, Ben doesn’t like to know who he is going to be paired with before a round. Just let him know what his tee time is. He explains it by saying, “When I first got out here, I looked up to alot of these guys who I was now playing with, so I didn’t want to go to bed thinking about it. Now, its just kind of become my routine.” We didn’t tell him, but we knew one of the players he was teeing it up with at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday was fellow Titleist ambassador Stephen Leaney. photo gallery of Ben at The PLAYERS.

As evidence of the global reach of the Titleist brand across the worldwide professional tours, Acushnet Korea recently celebrated the first anniversary of the Titleist Tour Van. Just like the Tour Van that travels to every PGA TOUR and PGA European Tour event, the Titleist Tour Van in Korea debuted at the Maekyung Open on May 1, 2007, and has supported the players with a wide array of equipment and services.
Over the past year, the number of full-line Titleist ambassadors on the Korean Tour has grown from seven to 15, including SH Kang, J.K. Mo, Eddie Lee, MW Kang, KH Lee, JH Choi, KT Kim, SeungYul Noh, SK Kim, SC Bae, DH Kim, Hy Park, SS Hong, JW Ahn and JW Choi, all of whom are featured in the photo below.
A year ago, Wally Uihlein, Chairman and CEO of Acushnet Company, attended the launch of the Titleist Tour Van in Korea. This year, Bill Young, Vice President, Worldwide Leadership, was on hand to help celebrate its first year anniversary, and to express his appreciation and support to the 15 full-line Titleist staff players.
