I followed McIlroy’s progress with interest last year and I plan to do the same in 2008. Whilst he’s an undeniable talent, I hope too much isn’t expected of him this year.
It looks like Adam Scott is playing with the new AP2 irons? Can you comment on his switch to a cavity back iron, for this is a huge switch for someone who is known as a true blade player? Thanks - looking forward to another great year with Titleist leading the way!
Titleist has got just the right ambassador in Rory McIlroy. This young kid still in his teenage years has already been hyped up and hailed as the next big star. He is already considered the next best from Northern Ireland after George Best. Just a couple of professional tournaments and he secured his card for the 2008 season on the European Tour. What caught everyone’s attention was the course record setting 61 at the Royal Portrush at the age of 16 back in 2005. Since then he has always been followed with great interest and his ‘legend’ (yes, we do live in the age of sensationalism) seems to have grown over the last two years. Ryder Cup, perhaps not, but he will definitely have to perform really well this season to be able to live up to all the expectations.
Great article. I’m 16, from Florida, and planning on giving the Tour a try after college, of course, so it is great inspiration. Thanks for the article.
Great read. Really looking forward to Rory’s first year on tour. My parents watched him in Portugal this year and said he was fantastic. Good luck to him with all his ambitions.
