Inside the Locker Room with George McNeill
October 18th, 2007
What a year it’s been for George McNeill. After earning medalist honors and his Tour card at the 2006 Qualifying Tournament, the Titleist ambassador captured his first career victory in convincing fashion at last week’s Frys.com Open in Las Vegas. McNeill’s passion for the game, belief in himself and trust in his equipment from tee-to-green helped him realize his dream. It was only one year ago that McNeill was working in locker rooms as an assistant professional at a Florida country club and now he finds his locker among the best players in the world whenever he tees it up on the PGA Tour. We caught up with George a few months ago in Memphis to take a peek inside his locker. Check out the video below.
What’s in George McNeill’s Bag?
New Pro V1 golf ball
907D4 prototype driver (9.5)
906F2 fairway metal (15.0)
735.CM irons (2-P)
Vokey Design Spin Milled sand (56) and lob (60) wedges
Scotty Cameron putter

What shafts and flexes does George play in his 907D4 and 906F2?
George has a Grafalloy Prototype in his driver, and a Grafalloy Prototype Comp NT is his fairway, both X flex.
What are the characteristics of these shafts? What type of ball flight/spin will they produce?
Please check with Grafalloy for more information about their shafts.
Is it just me or does it seem like more Tour pros are playing the 907D4 now? Or is it that there’s just more publicity for it?
Could you tell us which finish George uses on his 735.CM irons (stainless or chrome)? Thanks.
Chrome.
Great win for George and Titleist. Am I correct that I saw a picture of his bag earlier in the year with a set of 962 irons in them? Those are classics. Nice to see the 735.CM irons get a win, I still love mine. Hope you replace them with another blended set.
You are correct, GM won Q-school with the 962 irons and played them for the first part of the year. He then put in a new set of the 735.CM irons, which are still in the bag. Good eye.

Interesting to see the Teryllium Ten get a win so soon. Will this putter be a limited release only or will we see a wider release in golf shops?
Great blog and very interesting video. While it is always fun to see what’s in a player’s bag in terms clubs, it is also interesting to see the other accessories they carry such as gloves, rain gear, ball markers, Sharpies, yardage book/scorecard carrier, etc. And now you have taken us “inside” the locker room to show us what a PGA Tour Pro keeps in in his locker. Thank you and keep up the great blog!
Always love seeing what the players are using. I know a couple of people who are playing the 907D4 and I am really hoping that Titleist will bring this club to golf shops. I have only heard great things about it.
It was great to see the 735.CM irons with another win. Does Titleist keep track of wins by iron type? I believe Ben Curtis has won with these and possibly Jay Haas won last year’s Charles Schwab Cup with them as well. I hope you keep making a Tour-quality blended set of forged irons, they incorporate the best of both worlds in one set.
Will the 907D4 be released to golf shops? Just wondering because I want to get either the 907D4 or 907D2. Leaning toward the 907D4. I would love to see a non-460cc driver out from Titleist. Thanks.
Our testing has shown that the 907D4 would appeal to a limited audience, therefore there are no current plans to bring this driver to golf shops.
I think there would be a great deal of interest in the 907D4. The profile of the 905S head was very popular. There is a ton of buzz on this driver on golf blogs. It would be great if the driver could be available for custom order if it is not going to be available in golf shops.
