Colt Knost joins the Titleist Team

October 10th, 2007

Titleist is proud to welcome Colt Knost to the team as one of our newest full-line ambassadors. Colt recently turned professional after a remarkable summer of amateur golf that saw him capture the U.S. Amateur and U.S. Amateur Public Links Championships, as well as play a key role on the victorious United States Walker Cup squad. Colt made his professional debut last week at the Valero Texas Open, where he finished T49 with a 3-under 277 total. He’ll be making his second start this week when play gets underway in Las Vegas for the Frys.com Open.

Colt’s Titleist equipment consists of: Pro V1x golf balls, 907D2 driver (8.5°, Titleist Spec Grid by Aldila 67X shaft), 735.CM irons (3-P, True Temper Dynamic Gold shafts), Vokey Design wedges (prototype 54°, Spin Milled 60° T-grind, True Temper Dynamic Gold shafts), and Scotty Cameron by Titleist prototype putter. I saw Colt play in the US Amateur at The Olympic Club which he won with what seem to be the same clubs in his bag. Super nice guy who signed autographs for the kids after his match. Even overheard one of the TV commentators say off the air that he was rooting for Colt. Glad to see that he stuck with what brought him so much success. He’ll be a great Titleist ambassador!

Just curious about the specs of Colt’s belly putter? As well, wondering why he has your old model tour bag instead of the new ones with the red coloring? Thanks.

The new staff bags with the red accents will make their full-scale debut on Tour in 2008. Models previously seen on Tour were prototypes used for testing.

Thanks for the photos. I think this is a wonderful pick up for Titleist. I know Colt was using another OEM’s fairway woods at the U.S. Amateur and other major events, how long will it take to get him in the 906 series?

We will continue to work with Colt, as we do with all of our Titleist ambassadors, to determine the best 14 clubs for him to put into play each week.

Which flex Dynamic Gold shafts does Colt play? S300, X100?

How do you determine who will and won’t be an ambassador for Titleist? How do you pick who you want to play Titleist equipment?

Titleist Golf Clubs wrote on November 2, 2007 at 11:52 am

As the term ambassador implies, we seek players who will represent the Titleist brand well both on and off the golf course.

Where is Colt going to play this year? Does he get a limited membership on the Nationwide Tour? How many events do you think we will see him in? Thanks again for all the great information on the site.

Colt will have conditional status on the Nationwide Tour, and will likely play the bulk of his schedule on that tour.

Does Colt have any Sponsor’s Exemptions on the PGA Tour this year?

Titleist Golf Clubs wrote on January 10, 2008 at 10:03 pm

It is possible that Colt will get some invitations lined up throughout the year, though he is likely to concentrate on the Nationwide Tour to try to earn his PGA Tour card by finishing high on the money list.
