Blogging from Barrington

June 19th, 2007

We’re at the CVS Caremark Charity Classic today in Barrington, Rhode Island, hosted by Titleist ambassador Brad Faxon and Titleist golf ball loyalist Billy Andrade. This marks the ninth year of the event which has raised more than $8.6 million in charitable grants to organizations in and around New England. The field consists of 20 PGA TOUR, Champions Tour and LPGA Tour players paired into 10 two-player teams in a two-day, 36-hole best-ball event. In addition to Brad and Billy, other participants in the world-class field include Masters champion Zach Johnson, David Toms, Chris DiMarco, Camilo Villegas, Jesper Parnevik, as well as Peter Jacobsen and Rhode Island natives Brett and Dana Quigley, who have participated in the previous eight tournaments.

We caught up with Titleist ambassadors Brad Faxon and Zach Johnson as they headed off to the first tee.

The overnight co-leaders fired a first round 11-under par 60.

Fax tees off on the first hole Tuesday morning.

Camilo Villegas hits some putts on the practice green. He and fellow Florida Gator Chris DiMarco were one shot back heading into the final round.

Titleist ambassador Brett Quigley and his Uncle Dana, the ironman of the Champions Tour, have been fixtures at this event since the beginning. Check out the matching outfits.
