Inside the Locker Room

June 7th, 2007

One of the first things that Titleist Tour Representatives do every week is head into the locker room to stock our players’ lockers with golf balls and whatever else they may need (hats, shoes, gloves, etc.). We’ll typically give each player three dozen Pro V1 or Pro V1x, unless they specify that they want more. Here are a couple of shots from inside the locker room at the TPC Southwind, site of the Stanford St. Jude Championship.

Do any Tour players still prefer the older model of the Pro V1 and Pro V1x? Also do any pros play any other Titleist golf ball such as the NXT or the DT SoLo?

Please see the comment above regarding prior generation golf ball models. The Pro V1 and Pro V1x are the only golf ball models we have in play on the PGA Tour.

Yeah, just another request for the fitted mesh caps. They would be a huge hit and I would buy like 4 or 5.

Look for this new style cap in golf shops sometime later this year.

Thank you! I think you already have guaranteed sales from everyone who checks this blog regularly.

Obviously it differs between players, but do guys really use three dozen balls in a week? I know some switch balls every few holes, but I would think some guys wouldn’t go through more than maybe one box. Also, what do pros do with balls they’ve used but are obviously still playable? Use them to practice with? Give them away? It just seems that three dozen balls every tournament would add up to a lot of extra golf balls after a while.

Most players go through their allotment of golf balls each week. Many of these balls are given to fans as souvenirs.

Another request for the mesh hats! No reason not to bring those hats to golf shops!

Does Titleist have any plans to bring out a new color staff bag? A white one would be cool! Also I have seen a few in various colors on a certain auction site which are said to be “Japanese versions”. Are these genuine? Keep it up - your the best make in golf!!

Bring on the mesh hat, Titleist, the public has spoken.

I think if you did release the mesh hat like Adam and the other pros wear week in and week out that they would do well. I am a huge fan of the Titleist gear but the hats need some help and the mesh ones appear as if they would be perfect!

I wish all those balls were in my locker…

If some players ask for an older version of the Pro V1 or Pro V1x, do you have stock ready or do the players use personal stashes? Also, I’ll second the all white stretch fit mesh hat that Scott was wearing. Very, very cool…for the coming summer heat.

From time to time we make previous generation Pro V1 product available to Tour players during transitional periods when we launch new golf ball models.

You need to bring the new mesh hat like Adam Scott wears to golf shops. They look great. Keep up the good work.

Titleist Golf Clubs wrote on June 8, 2007 at 5:24 pm

The hat style that Adam and several other Titleist ambassadors are wearing this week is currently a Tour-only offering. There are no definite plans to introduce this style for sale in golf shops.

Are the golf balls the players on Tour use the same ones that people could buy in stores? Or do they go through more rigorous testing or anything like that before getting to a professional’s locker?

The golf balls the pros use are the same as anybody can buy over the counter! In fact, we have had players buy balls over the counter at times if needed.
